August / September 2026 - GiveGrove Platform Updates
Fall event season is here, and we have a lot to catch you up on. Since our July update we've shipped 16 releases, and the theme is simple: less time building your event, more time running it. You can now copy last year's event instead of starting from scratch, and bulk import items for every module (not just Silent Auction).
The Updates
🔁 Duplicate an event, or start from a template
Creating a new event now starts with a guided wizard and three ways to begin:
Copy an existing event. Bring over everything, or just the event details and home page. If you ran a gala last spring, this year's version can be ready to edit in a few clicks.
Start from a template. Pick the kind of event you're running and we'll turn on the right modules for you.
Start from scratch. The full event form you already know, unchanged.
Copied events keep your dates on the right time and day, even when you copy across a daylight saving change.
Tip: Copying last year's event is a great time to look at what worked. Which items drew the most bids? Which sat at their opening bid? Keep the winners, rethink the rest, and if you'd like a second set of eyes, our team will review your auction with you.
📥 Bulk import for every module
Bulk import used to be a Silent Auction feature. It now works for Voting, Live Auction, Fund a Need and Ticketing too. Fill in a spreadsheet template, preview your items before anything is saved, and choose whether to update existing items or replace them.
For ticketing specifically:
Photos come along. Ticket images carry through import and export.
Export, edit, re-import. A ticket file you export from GiveGrove imports right back in, no column cleanup needed.
Preview what donors see. The import preview shows each ticket exactly as it will appear on your event page.
👋 Try GiveGrove before creating an account
In our July update we said our next major step would let people build an event without an account. That's live. Anyone curious about GiveGrove can now set up an organization, an event, and items with photos, and see how it all looks before signing up. When they're ready, everything they built moves into their new account.
If you know an organization that's been on the fence, this is the easiest way for them to see what GiveGrove can do. Send them our way!
More improvements
💳 Ticketing & checkout
Safer ticket checkout. We added safeguards around ticket purchases: if a ticket order can't be completed after payment goes through, the charge is refunded automatically, and checkout now protects against duplicate charges when a donor taps through quickly.
🖼️ Items & photos
Faster, more dependable item photos. Item photos now load faster and retry automatically if the connection is slow, on both your admin pages and your public event page.
Matching placeholder images. Items without a photo now show the same module-specific placeholder on your public page that you see in the admin editor.
Tip: Items with real photos almost always outperform placeholders. If you have items still showing a placeholder, a quick phone photo is worth adding before bidding opens.
🗓️ Community calendar
Events show where they actually happen. The public "Events in your community" calendar now lists each event by its venue's county, not the host organization's address. If your event is in a different county from your office, local supporters will now find it.
🔒 Account & security
Creator role transfers. If the person who created your organization's account moves on, the GiveGrove team can now transfer the creator role to someone else on your team. Just reach out.
Cleaner names across GiveGrove. Organization and event names are now automatically screened for offensive language.
Tighter storage security. We locked down access to files stored on our platform as an extra layer of protection.
We also made sign-in and sign-up smoother on smaller screens, refreshed the wording on the sign-in screen, and made behind-the-scenes upgrades to keep GiveGrove fast, stable, and secure.
Coming soon: printable bid sheets
Our team is testing printable PDF bid sheets for any module: Silent Auction, Live Auction, Fund a Need, Voting or Tickets. One page per item, ready to set on a table next to the item at your event. If you would like bid sheets for your upcoming event, reach out and let us know!
What's next?
We're working on authless donations. In July we shared that letting people build an event without an account was our first step toward letting any supporter give without one. That first step is live, and now we're building the next one: supporters will be able to donate without having to create an account. Fewer steps between a supporter and their gift means more of them follow through, and we can't wait to share it with you.
